Our privacy commitment

Prayer Pause is built with privacy at its core. We don't show ads, we don't sell your data, and we don't track you across the web. Your faith is between you and Allah, and your data is between you and your device.

Overview

Prayer Pause is an iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and Android application that helps Muslims manage their screentime around prayer and build better phone habits through app blocking, focus features, and screentime tracking.

Information we collect

Location data

We request access to your device's location to:

• Calculate accurate prayer times for your location
• Determine Qibla direction toward Makkah
• Auto-update prayer times when you travel (if "Always" access is granted)

Your location is processed entirely on your device. We do not transmit your location to any server.

User preferences

We store your app settings locally on your device, including prayer calculation method, notification settings, blocking preferences, and theme settings.

iCloud sync (optional)

If you enable iCloud Sync, the following data is synced across your devices via Apple's iCloud:

• App settings (theme, calculation method, notifications)
• Prayer streak and completion history (last 30 days)
• Focus feature usage statistics
• Language preference

iCloud data is encrypted by Apple and only accessible on devices signed into your iCloud account. You can disable iCloud Sync anytime in the app settings. Your location is never synced.

Screen Time data

If you enable app blocking features (Salah Block, Brick Mode, Pause Rules) on iPhone, iPad, or Mac, the app uses Apple's Screen Time APIs. This data is processed entirely by Apple's frameworks and is never accessed or stored by Prayer Pause.

Analytics data

We use Mixpanel, a privacy-respecting analytics service, to understand how people use Prayer Pause. This helps us identify which features are most valuable, where people get stuck, and how to make the app better.

What Mixpanel collects:

• Anonymous usage events (for example, which features you use and how often)
• General device information (device model, OS version, app version)
• A random device identifier (not linked to your Apple ID, name, or personal identity)

What Mixpanel does NOT collect:

• Your name, email, or any personal contact information
• Your location
• Your prayer habits or specific prayer times
• Content you read (Quran ayahs, hadith, etc.)
• Which apps you block or how much screen time you have

Analytics data is used solely to improve the app. It is never sold, shared with advertisers, or used for targeted advertising. You can learn more about Mixpanel's privacy practices at mixpanel.com/legal/privacy-policy.

Ad attribution (Meta)

If you arrived at Prayer Pause through a Facebook or Instagram ad, the app uses the Meta (Facebook) SDK to attribute that install back to the campaign so we can measure whether our ads work. This only runs when the SDK is installed in the app build, it is not a tracker on this website.

What Meta receives:

• Standard app events: app open, onboarding completed, free trial started, subscription purchased, trial converted to paid
• For purchase events: subscription plan name (weekly, monthly, annual, lifetime) and an approximate price in USD used for value-based optimization
• Your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) only if you choose "Allow" on Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. Otherwise Meta receives only anonymous SKAdNetwork postbacks from Apple, with no device identifier

What Meta does NOT receive:

• Your name, email, or any contact information
• Your location
• Your prayer habits, prayer times, or streak data
• Content you read (Quran ayahs, hadith, etc.)
• Which apps you block or how much screen time you have

To opt out entirely, decline the App Tracking Transparency prompt or disable "Allow Apps to Request to Track" in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. You can also change this anytime from the same settings. Meta's privacy practices are described at facebook.com/about/privacy.

Purchase information

Subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect or store payment information.

Data collection summary

* iCloud sync is optional and can be disabled in app settings. iCloud data is encrypted and only accessible on your devices.

** Analytics data is anonymized and used solely for app improvement. It is never sold or shared with advertisers.

*** Ad attribution events are sent to Meta only to measure ad performance. IDFA is sent only if you grant App Tracking Transparency permission, otherwise only anonymous SKAdNetwork postbacks are used. No personal information is shared.

What we don't do

• No advertising. No ads, no ad networks, no ad tracking. Ever.
• No data sales. We never sell your information to anyone.
• No cross-app tracking. We don't track you outside of Prayer Pause.
• No personal profiling. Analytics are anonymous and aggregated. We see patterns, not people.

Third-party services

We use the following services:

• Apple Frameworks (StoreKit, Family Controls, Core Location, ActivityKit, iCloud, App Tracking Transparency, SKAdNetwork): All data processed through these services is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
• Mixpanel (analytics): Anonymous, aggregated usage analytics to improve the app. Governed by Mixpanel's Privacy Policy. No personal information is shared with Mixpanel.
• Meta (Facebook) SDK (ad attribution): Standard app events (install, trial, purchase) used to measure Facebook and Instagram ad performance. Governed by Meta's Privacy Policy. IDFA is only shared if you grant App Tracking Transparency permission; otherwise only anonymous SKAdNetwork postbacks are used.

Your rights

• Change or revoke location permissions anytime in iOS Settings
• Manage notification preferences in Settings
• Revoke Screen Time access in iOS Settings
• Allow or deny ad tracking via iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking
• Enable or disable iCloud Sync in the app settings
• Delete all local data using "Reset All Data" in the app
• Manage subscriptions through the App Store

Data deletion

Prayer Pause does not require an account, so almost all of your data stays on your device. Here is how to delete everything we hold.

Delete the data on your device

Open Prayer Pause, go to Settings, and choose "Reset All Data" to erase your prayers, streaks, preferences, and every other setting stored on the device. Uninstalling the app removes this data as well. If you use iCloud Sync, you can also remove the synced copy from your device's iCloud settings.

Request deletion of analytics data

The only information we hold away from your device is anonymous product analytics tied to a random device identifier, with no name, email, or account attached. To have that identifier and its analytics permanently deleted, email prayerpauseapp@gmail.com with the subject "Delete my data." We complete the deletion within 30 days and reply to confirm.

What is deleted and what is kept

On request we delete all anonymous analytics linked to your device identifier. We keep no personal information, because we never collect any. We may retain aggregate statistics that cannot be traced back to any device, and any records a payment provider such as Apple or Google is required to keep for their own receipts, which are outside our control.

Children's privacy

Prayer Pause is safe for users of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. All personal data remains on the device, and analytics data is anonymous.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy and will notify you through an in-app notification and by updating the "Last updated" date.
